The assessment · 15 to 20 min

School measures what your child knows. It never asks how.

Kindwise is a study and preparation tool for South African parents of Grade 1 to 7 children. Take a quick online quiz to get a personalised 4-week learning plan. Your results give you practical strategies for revising, preparing for tests, and knowing exactly what to try when the work feels difficult.

You'll receive two personalised reports — one for you as a parent, and one booklet your child can understand and read themselves.

01 · The problem

Why your bright child still battles homework.

Effort isn't usually the issue. The gap between how your child works and how the evening is set up is.

Most of the homework struggle isn't about trying harder. It's about the setup: where your child focuses, how long they can hold a task, what they actually do the moment something gets too hard, and how a test week feels from the inside.

Kindwise gives you practical insight into your child's learning style, helping you understand what works for them and support them with greater confidence.

02 · The framework

The Six Lenses.

Kindwise's own framework, anchored in published learning science where the evidence exists and honest about where it does not. Nothing here is a type, a score out of ten, or a label your child carries.

01

Where they work best

Sound, time of day, who is in the room, and what the desk looks like. The most changeable thing in the whole report, and usually the cheapest to fix.

Practical · read first
02

How they focus

How long they hold one task before their attention goes, what happens when something interrupts, and how easily they come back to it.

Practical · read first
03

When it gets hard

What your child actually does the moment work exceeds what they can manage. Keep going, ask, guess, stall, or quietly leave. And what changes when nobody is there to ask.

Behaviour, never a label
04

How school feels

How they prepare for a test, what test day does to them, and what reliably helps them recover afterwards.

Feelings · the substantial pair
05

How they take things in

Seeing, hearing, doing, and reading or writing from Grade 4 onward. Reported as what your child is drawn to, never as instructions for how they must be taught.

Descriptive · the weakest evidence
06

How they make sense of things

Worked examples or the rule first. Step by step, or the whole shape before the pieces.

Descriptive · directional only
03 · How it works

Three steps. Same day.

No appointment to book. No three-week wait. No follow-up call to schedule.

1

Your child answers

11–13 minutes for Grade 1–3 (read aloud by you). 15–20 minutes for Grade 4–7 (read independently). Designed for one sitting, and you can stop at any point.

2

We generate the reports

An age-banded parent report and a child-friendly book are produced from your child's answers. No human review, no follow-up call needed.

3

Both arrive by email

You read the parent report first. You decide when and how to share the child book with your child.

04 · Questions

How is this different from a registered educational psychologist?

Kindwise is a learning style tool designed to help you understand how your child learns best. It gives you practical insights into their natural learning preferences, helping you support them with greater confidence. It is not a diagnostic or clinical assessment and does not replace professional support when that is needed.

Is this just another learning-styles assessment?

No, and that difference matters. Kindwise looks beyond learning preferences to understand how your child actually learns: what helps them focus, how their environment affects them, and what happens when learning gets difficult. The result is practical insight you can use to support your child more effectively.

Will my child be given a type or a label?

No. Your child is never described as a visual learner, a freezer, an avoider, or anything else of that shape. The report describes behaviour and what helps, never the child.

What ages is Kindwise for?

Grades 1–7, in two age groups.

Grades 1–3 (ages 6–9): You read the questions aloud, your child answers, and you add six observations.

Grades 4–7 (ages 10–13): Your child completes it independently, with you available to explain unfamiliar words.

The two versions are intentionally different. Reading and writing preferences are only measured from Grade 4, once children have developed enough experience to have a meaningful preference.

What does my child see versus what do I see?

Your child sees only the questionnaire. Both reports are emailed to you together. You decide when and how to share the child's book.

What about my child's data?

All personal information is processed under POPIA. Some answers concern how your child feels about school, which POPIA section 26 treats as special personal information, so we ask for your explicit consent to process it for the sole purpose of generating the report. Answers are stored encrypted in South African cloud regions and automatically deleted 12 months after completion. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
