Privacy & POPIA
Privacy Policy.
Last updated: 7 October 2026
At Kindwise, we take your family's privacy seriously, and we ask for as little information as possible to do our job. This policy explains what we collect when you use our child wellbeing assessment, why, and the choices you have. We handle your information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who we are
Kindwise (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/406779/07), of 64 Simons Way, De Wijnlanden Estate, Stellenbosch, 7600. Our Information Officer can be reached at privacy@kindwise.co.za for any privacy question or request.
What we collect — and how little it is
About your child, we ask for only their first name and school grade. We do not collect your child's ID number, contact details, or any other identifying information.
About you, the parent or guardian, we collect your name and email address, and your payment is handled securely by our payment provider. We never see or store your card details.
The assessment itself consists of the answers you provide, which we use to generate your child's report.
Why we collect it
We use this information only to generate and deliver your child's assessment report, process your purchase, provide support, and keep the records we're required to keep. We never sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing.
Your child's information and your consent
Information about a child is given special protection under POPIA. We only process your child's information with your consent as their parent or guardian, which you give when the quiz starts. You can withdraw that consent at any time (this won't affect a report already produced).
Who we share it with
We share your information only with the partners who help us run the service - our hosting and technology partner, our payment provider (Paystack), and the provider that generates your report, and only as far as each needs it. They are each bound to protect it and to use it only for what we've asked.
Some of these providers may process information outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure it's protected to a standard consistent with POPIA.
How long we keep it, and how we protect it
We keep your child's assessment information only as long as we need it to provide the service and meet our legal obligations, after which we securely delete it. We use reasonable security measures to protect your information, and if a breach ever affects it, we'll notify you and the Information Regulator as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you and your child, ask us to correct or delete it, object to certain uses, or withdraw your consent. Just contact our Information Officer at privacy@kindwise.co.za.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact our Information Officer first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa):
